Mrs. Kathryn Downing, 83, died Tuesday at a convalescent home in Charlotte where
she had been ill for a week.  She was born March 6, 1871 in Saginaw, the
daughter of Charles and Margaret Popp, who came to Michigan from Germany 100
years ago and settled in Saginaw.

She was married to Clarence Downing and they lived in Sunfield where they
operated a __ily farm.  They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1943
and he died in 1945.  After the death of Mr. Downing  she bought a home in Lake
Odessa where she has since resided. 

Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Ruth Creitz of Sunfield, Mrs. Jennie Parks of
Big Rapids, Mrs. Grace Braun of Owosso and Mrs. Anna Aldrich of Lake Odessa,
seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Anna Creitz of
Charlotte.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock at Mapes funeral
home in Sunfield and interment will be at the Sunfield cemetery.
