Ionia Daily Sentinel Standard, 20 Sep 1937

Mrs. Emma Downing, 80, wife of the late Samuel Downing, died at her home at 718
Hackett street, Sunday morning, after a brief illness.  She was born December
27, 1857, at Ada, Michigan.  Her marriage to Samuel M. Downing took place April
3, 1895.  She had been a resident of Ionia for the past forty years, and was a
member of the Presbyterian church and an active member of the Women’s Relief corps.

Survivors are a sister, Mrs. Marietta Coe of Ionia, two step-daughters, Mrs. Ira
Eldridge of Pasadena, California, and Mrs. Bertha Adams of Los Angeles, California.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the Myers
funeral home in Ionia.  Interment will be at the Balcom cemetery.
