Doris Irene Drake, 87, passed away peacefully Oct. 20, 2013, at Trillium Woods 
Hospice, Byron Center, Mich., with her family at her side. Irene was born Sept. 
9, 1926, the daughter of Frank and Doris (Ferguson) Reiff. 

She graduated from Marcellus High School, Marcellus, Mich., and married Dale 
Drake in 1945.  In 1961, she and Dale moved to Ionia, Mich., where they owned 
and operated Dale's Tavern until 1972.  In her later years, Irene enjoyed 
working at the Vogue Shop.  She was a member of the Ionia Women of the Moose, 
the Marcellus V.F.W. Post 4054 Women's Auxiliary and a life member of the 
Eastern Star.

Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Dale, and by a son David.  Members 
of her family include her sister Maybelle Drake; children, Douglas (Sheridan) 
Drake, Nancy (Ralph) Dittmar; daughter-in-law Carol Drake; grandchildren Erik 
(Kelly) Drake, Kipp (Amy) Drake, Kara Drake, Steven (Christina) Drake and 
Michael Drake; four great-grandchildren and six nieces.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, in 
the Mater-Ralston Funeral Home, Marcellus. Funeral services will be held at 11 
a.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, in the funeral home with Pastor John Messner of 
the Marcellus United Methodist Church officiating.  Burial will be in the 
Marcellus Cemetery.  Memorials may be directed to the Faith Hospice Trillium 
Woods, Byron Center, Mich., or the Marcellus V.F.W. Post 4054.
