Drake, 80, will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at First United Methodist church. Rev. Charles Fullmer will officiate and interment will be at the Balcom cemetery. Mrs. Drake who lived at 712 Branch, died Wednesday morning at the Ionia Manor following an extended illness. Born in Linn Grove, Ind., January 30, 1896, she was the daughter of Sherman and Etta Babcock Higgins. She moved to Portland as a child and attended Portland schools. October 9, 1919, shew as married to Harry Drake and they made their hom ein Portland and Lowell before moving to Ionia in 1925. She made her home Ionia since. Her husband, Harry, died February 10, 1951. She once worked at Hemmes bakery in Ionia. A member of First United Methodist church, she also belonged to Mrs. Morrall’s Sunday school class, the Afternoon circle, Ionia City Extension club and was past president of the American Legion auxiliary. Among her survivors are a son, Richard of St. Johns; two grandchildren and three great grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Mary Reiffer of Wyoming and Mrs. Zelma Bartlett of Williamston. Family members will be at the Leddick funeral home Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A memorial fund has been established.
