He had been a patient there since January 16. He was born July 30, 1875, in Germany and moved to this county with his parents when he was six. The rest of his life was spent in Ionia where he worked on the Pere Marquette railroad and farmed. Mr. Dreger was a member of the St. John Lutheran church where services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday by the Rev. Eric Cash. This will be preceded by a prayer service at 2 p.m. at Myers funeral home. Interment will be in Highland Park cemetery. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Jacob Tiechmann, Mrs. Kurt Mathe and Mrs. Richard Drake, all of Ionia; four sons, Carl of California, Herman of Portland, William of Otsego and Wilbur of Ionia; three sisters, Mrs. Julia Kanouse, Mrs. Claud Bigsby and Mrs. Tillie Wieczorek of Ionia; and two brothers, August and Emil of Ionia. Subsequent Publication: Monday, March 2, 1953 Services for Michael Dreger who died Thursday, Feb. 26, at the Ionia Rest Home were held at St. John Lutheran church at 2:30 p.m. Saturday following prayer services at 2 p.m. at the Myers funeral home. The Rev. Eric Cash officiated. Carl Straub as organist accompanied the children from the Lutheran school who sang “I’m But a Stranger Here” and “Heaven is My Home.” Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Waidelich and Mrs. Bertha Smith were in charge of lowers. Bearers, all grandsons of the deceased, were John and Philip Teichmann, Robert Mathe, Dean Gibbs, Harold Whitlock and Neil Fletcher. Burial was in Highland Park cemetery. Attending the services from away were Herman Dreger, Clarence Browning, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Gibbs and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Whitlock of Portland; Mr. and Mrs. William Dreger and Mr. and Mrs. Milford Hammon of Otsego; John Teichmann of Saranac; Mrs. Katherine Teichmann and Miss Marilyn Alice Teichmann of Lansing; Philip Teichmann of Ft. Knox, Ky.; Wayne Dreger, Mr. and Mrs. Don Bigsby and Mrs. Josie Klump of Grand Rapids; Gaylord Dreger of Belding; and Mr. and Mrs. Emil Harker and Mrs. Walter Strock of South Haven. Surviving Mr. Dreger besides his children as 27 grandchildren and two great- grandchildren.
