Droste of Sunfield, died Nov. 4, 2006 in his residence at the age of 83. He was born April 24, 1923 in Roosevelt, the son of Charles F. and Antoinette (Schumacher) Droste. Marvin served his country during World War II, US Army; 2nd Airborne Infantry Brigade, 82 and 101 St. Divisions-Screaming Eagles, and he was a B.A.R. sharpshooter. He was a avid outdoorsman and whitetail deer hunter. Marvin was an extraordinary person, who always found ways to have fun with his family and friends, and never missed the opportunity to call someone a knucklehead. On July 1, 1950 Marvin married his true love and life long partner, Cilinda M. Heaton. When Marvin described his marriage and life, he would say, “Didn’t we have a lot of fun.” God bless you Starvin Marvin—rest in peace! The entire family would like to extend their appreciation and gratitude for the dedicated care that Rich showed for their Dad during the past year. Mr. Droste was preceded in death by both his parents; sons Carl Norman Droste, and Norman Carl Droste. Survising are seven children, Marvin (Julie) Droste, Cilinda (Ted) Stroud, Richard Droste, Eva (Glen) Pung, Monica (Bob) Woods, Rebecca Droste, and Ben (Anne) Droste; nine grandchildren; brother, Richard (Doris) Droste; sister in laws, Katheleen Droste, and Eva (Martin) Barrett; special nephew, Norman K. Droste, aka “Knucklehead.” Very special care giver and friend, Melanie Davidson. Funeral services were held Nov. 9 at the Rosier Funeral Home, Mapes-Fisher Chapel, Sunfield. A graveside service was held with military honors at the East Sebewa Cemetery following the service at the funeral home.
