Milton G. "Jerry" Duell passed away on Oct. 15, 2011 at his home in Ionia. He 
was born on March 8, 1924 in Hastings, to Hollis P. and Pauline (Gazella) 
Duell. Jerry graduated from Ss. Peter and Paul School in 1942. He entered the 
U.S. Navy out of High School, serving from 1942 to 1948. Jerry worked for the 
Dept. of Mental Health - Ionia State Hospital until his retirement in 1983.

Jerry enjoyed fishing and hunting out west during the 1950's to 1970's. Lately, 
he enjoyed his time with friends at the local coffee shops.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Marjorie; son, Mathew; his 
parents; brothers, Hollis, Jr. and Raymond; and sisters, Navine and Monica.

Jerry is survived by his five children, Kathy (Terry) Donavon, Tony (Ruth Ann) 
Wawigrnia, Randy (Tracy) Duell, Jeff (Tammy) Duell, and Kellie (Jack) Jeppesen; 
20 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; brother, Robert (Joyce) Duell; and 
sister Maxine Page.

The mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Thomas Boufford at 11 
a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2011 at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Rite of 
Committal will be at a later date in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The family will 
receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Lehman Funeral 
Homes, 220 Rich St., Ionia. The rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ss. Peter and Pau   
Scholarship Fund in memory of Jerry. Online condolences may be made at
