The Ionia County News, Thursday, January 16, 1936

Herschel Duffer, who passed away in St. John Memorial hospital Tuesday, 
January 7, had been ill a long time of an incurable disease.  Mr. Duffer and 
his daughter, Martha, lived together in St. Johns, where she is employed as a 
teacher.  His home was formerly about six and one-half miles north east of 
Pewamo in Clinton county but he was well known in this vicinity.

He is survived by two daughters, Miss Martha and Mrs. Emery Vance.  The 
funeral services were held at the home in St. Johns and interment in East 
Plains cemetery Friday, January 10.
