                             JOHN LEWIS DUKES

John Lewis Dukes, age 67 of Ionia, passed away April 11, 2008.

he was born Oct. 31, 1940 in Ionia, the son of Lewis and Doris(Heilman)Dukes. 
John married Sharon Devers-Hawley, Feb.7, 1982 in Snohomish, Wash.. He was a 
member of Ionia Moose for 31 years. He was also an avid bowler and a member of 
American Bowlers Congress.

John is survived by his loving wife of 26 years Sharon Dukes of Ionia; children, 
Debra Dukes of Washington, Melvin Alexander of Lowell, Linda (Jason) Hinshaw of 
Indiana, Stacy (Michele) Hawley of Ionia, Trina (Richard) Thayer of Ionia and 
John (Nanette) Dukes of Grand Rapids; brothers, Larry Dukes of U.P., Dorwain 
Dukes of U.P., George Dukes of Washington, Roger (Mary) Dukes of Stanton and 
Wesley (Maggie) Dukes of Washington; special friends, Ellis and Dixie Conley of 
Ionia and Kenneth and Tish Sweet of Ionia; 21 grandchildren and five great-
grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Thursday at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia 
with Rev.Kenneth Harger officiating.The family will receive friends and 
relatives Wednesday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of 
flowers, donation in John's name may be made to Ionia Moose Lodge 998. Online
