Norman E. Dukes, 53, of 215 North Dexter, Ionia, died at his residence Sunday 
after a long illness.  Born April 7, 1940 in Oneida Township, Eaton County, he 
was the son of Orpheus and Mary Randolph Dukes.  He attended Grand Ledge 
Public Schools.  He had retired as a maintenance man for Quality Dairy Co. of 
Lansing.  He was married to the former Syverine Avery in November 1977; she 
survives.

Also surviving are a son, Norman Dukes Jr. of Michigan; two stepsons, Richard 
Allen of Lyons and Lyle Allen of Ionia; a daughter, Sally Dukes of Ionia and 
two stepdaughters, Rosemary Roberts of Ionia and Bobbie Jo Allen of Orleans; 
10 grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Dukes of Eaton Rapids and Sam Dukes of 
Grand Ledge; and a sister, Josephine DeShaw of Grand Ledge.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. from Hull Memorial Chapel with the 
Rev. Steve Burkhart of Eagle Wesleyan Church officiating.  Burial will be in 
Lyons Cemetery.  The family will be at the funeral home Tuesday and Wednesday 
from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
