Ionia Daily Sentinel, 5 Jun 1958

After a long illness, Ralph Oliver DuMond, 69, of 142 ½ East Main street died 
early Thursday morning.  He was born June 20, 1888 at St. Johns, the son of 
Harmon and Sarah (Drouillard) DuMond and came to Ionia in 1904.  Mr. DuMond 
worked at Ionia Manufacturing Co., Michigan Reformatory and Stafford’s.

He was married July 9, 1908 in Ionia to Fern Kidd.  She died September 28, 
1927.  October 24, 1931 he was married to Margaret Benedict.  Mr. DuMond was a 
member of the First Methodist church and of Berlin Center Grange.

Surviving besides his wife, Margaret, are three sons, Howard of Greenville, 
William of Holland and Melvin of Dorr; two daughters, Mrs. Frederick (Helen) 
Mull of Rochester and Mrs. Beryl (Ida Belle) Setchfield of Belding; two step-
sons, Dr. Robert Benedict of Peoria, Ill. and Russell Benedict of Northbrook, 
Ill.; 24 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Royal of Grand 
Ledge and Samuel of Toledo, Ohio, and three sisters, Mrs. Joseph Newman of 
Lansing, Mrs. Katherine Shellington of Lakeland, Fla. and Mrs. Ray Evans of 
Saranac.

Funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Myers funeral home, with the 
Rev. Heath T. Goodwin officiating.  Interment is to be at Highland park 
cemetery.

Funeral service for Ralph Oliver DuMond, who died early Thursday morning, was 
held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Myers funeral home.  The Rev. Heath T. Goodwin 
officiated.   Pallbearers were Dan Hauter, Arthur Gunter, Stanley Eddy, Allie 
Stewart, Arthur Smith and Alden Smith.  Interment was at Highland park cemetery.
