Funeral services for Mrs. Irene Dumont, 21, wife of Flying Officer Richard K. 
Dumont, of Fort Dover, Ontario, will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. from the Myers 
funeral home, East Main street.  Private prayer services were held Monday 
afternoon in Port Dover.  Interment will be in Balcom cemetery, Berlin township.

The body of Mrs. Dumont was found in her apartment at Port Dover, Sunday.  A 
.22 calibre target pistol, with one bullet missing, lay near.

Richard K. Dumont has been stationed at the No. 1 bombing and gunnery school, 
Royal Canadian Air Force, at Jarvis, Ontario, where he is an instructor.

Irene Shields Dumont was born April 12, 1921, in Jennings, Michigan, the 
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Shields.  The family moved to Ionia about 1925 
and have made their home here since that time.  She was graduated from Ionia 
high school in 1938 and was married October 1, 1940, at Agnew to Richard K. 
Dumont of Ionia, son of Mr. and Mrs. Claud Dumont, of Union street.  The couple 
moved to Canada during the early part of the winter in 1940, and had made their 
home there since that time.  Mr. Dumont was connected with the RCA.

Surviving are the husband, Richard, the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Shields 
and Mr. and Mrs. Claud Dumont, three brothers, Douglas, Donald and Ernest, jr., 
all of Ionia; a grandmother, Mrs. Alice Shields of Lyons, and her maternal 
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hendrick of Jennings.  Mr. and Mrs. Dumont’s 
infant son died about five weeks ago.
