Ionia Daily Sentinel Standard, 23 & 28 Nov 1964

Claude A. DuMont, 76, died at 9:30 Monday morning at his home at 2694 Hillcrest
drive.  He had been ill the past five months.  Born in Michigan May 19, 1888, he
was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Dumont and attended Bay City public schools
until the age of 15.  He was graduated from Ionia high school and attended to
Michigan State university.  His wife, Iva died September 4, 1957 and in 1958, he
was married in Ionia to Florence Smith Lawson.

Mr. Dumont was a former reader of Christian Science church of Ionia and for
several years was a window trimmer at Hudsons in Detroit.  He retired in 1957
after 27 years employment at Michigan State Reformatory.

Survivors include a son, Richard at the Veterans hospital in Battle Creek; a
sister, Mrs. Goldie Daun of Grand Rapid; a grandson, Robert Dumont of Delaware
and two grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements will be announced from Myers funeral home.  Interment will
be a Easton cemetery.

Funeral service was held at 1 o’clock Friday afternoon for Claude A. Dumont, 76,
of 2694 Hillcrest Drive who died Monday morning after an illness of five months.
 Frank Salisbury, Christian Science Reader from Grand Rapids, officiated and
interment was at Easton cemetery.  Bearers were Willis Shafer, Arthur Tuttle,
Harold Blackmer, Louis Hoopman, Robert Dumont and Michael Dawson.

Out-of-town relatives and friends were Robert Dumont of Wilmington, Dela., Mrs.
William Daun, Lyle Dumont, Mrs. Marian Garney and Mrs. Ruth Huff of Grand
Rapids; Mrs. Alex Mutch and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Baxter and family of East Lansing,
Mrs. Goldie Blaisdell and daughter of Stanton, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Smith of
Rochester, Mr. and Mrs. Owen Smith, Mrs. Edna Strayer and Mrs. Irene Moore of
Lyons, Mr. and Mrs. James Mutch of Lake Odessa, and Mr. and Mrs. Rex Curtiss of
Lansing.
