Ionia County News, 18 May 1939

Melvin I. Dumper died at his home, 410 Price street at five o’clock Saturday 
afternoon, May 13.  He had been an invalid 17 years but seriously ill only the 
week before his death.  

Mr. Dumper was born in Easton township, July 24, 1870 the son of Mr. and Mrs. 
William Dumper.  He was married to Miss Mary Smith of Orleans Nov. 24, 1908.  
Surviving are his widow and two daughters, Mrs. Paul Leslie of Ionia and Mrs. 
Richard Bottje of Grand Haven; three grandsons, Gayle Leslie of Ionia and James 
and John Bottje of Grand Haven.

Funeral services were held from the Easton Community church Tuesday afternoon, 
May 16, at 2:30 o’clock following prayer services at the home Tuesday afternoon 
at 2 o’clock.  Rev. F.G. Dunbar, pastor of the Ionia Methodist church 
officiating.  Interment was in the Easton cemetery.
