The Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard, Thursday, January 11, 1962


Mrs. Mary Dumper, 81, died at 7:30 Thursday morning in Grand Haven General 
hospital where she was a patient five weeks.

She was born in Orleans township February 3, 1880 and with the exception of 
the past three years of her life spent with her daughter, Mrs. Fern Bottje in 
Grand Haven, she had always lived in Ionia.  She was the daughter of Jesse and 
Helen Haines Smith and was married in 1899 to Melvin Dumper.  He died in 1935.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Paul Leslie of Ionia, and Mrs. Fern 
Bottje of Grand Haven; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and two 
sisters, Mrs. Etta Roberts of Ionia and Mrs. Bertha DeLine of Belding.

Funeral service will be at Boynton funeral home Saturday at 2 p.m.  The Rev. 
Harold A. Jayne, pastor of First Methodist church, will officiate and 
interment will be at Easton cemetery.
