PASSES -------- Mrs. Edith Dunham After a Long Period of Ill Health Died Sunday Morning. Funeral Tuesday Afternoon. Mrs. Edith Dunham, formerly, well known in Lake Odessa business circles, but more recently retired on account of ill health, died at the home of her daughter Mrs. Burt Fisher a little after midnight Sunday morning. Mrs. Dunham had undergone two operations for gall trouble in the past years, in trying to regain her health, but at the age of 65 years she had become too weakened, to overcome disease. She was of a most cheery, ambitious nature, with a pleasant voice and presence. She loved birds and animals as well as friends and companions. She ever divided her sustenance with those she loved and cared for. She was indeed a royal neighbor and friend. The funeral was held at the home of her daughter Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 21. Rev. A. T. Cartland officiated. Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Goodemoot sang two of the favorite songs of Mrs. Dunham and Mrs. Goodemoot read a poem. Member of the local american Legion post were the pallbearers. They were; Neil Roe, Arthur McCartney, Harold Belcher, Dan Peterman, Leon Ackerson and Arthur Christopherson. Burial was at Lakeside cemetery. OBITUARY Mrs. Edith Dunham was born in Brand Rapids, July 17, 1800, and passed from this life at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Bert Fisher in Lake Odessa, August 19, 1934, aged 65 years, one month and two days. She was the youngest of the five children of Jacob and Susan Springstead. In 1800 she was united in marriage with Charles Shepard at Big Rapids, Mich. To this union two children were born, George H. Shepard who died in childhood and one daughter Hazel. The husband's death in 1895 left the mother alone with her little daughter three months old. Ten years passed and then she was married to Charles Dunham, a soldier of the Civil war, with whom she lived for 28 years until April of last year when death took her husband from her side. Since then Mrs. Dunham has made her home with her daughter Mrs. Fisher. Besides her daughter and her son-in-law she is survived by four grandchildren; Royal, Rose, Burt. Jr., and Charles Fisher; one sister, Mrs. Millie Burdick of Lansing, and a brother Arthur Springstead of Central Lake, Mich. Mrs. Dunham first moved to Lake Odessa about 30 years ago and here her life has mostly been lived since that time. She is known among her many friends as an excellent and sweet-spirited woman, a kindly friend, a greatly beloved mother, grandmother and sister. Mother we long for your voice now silent. For the touch of your dear loving hand. When with Jesus we dwell ever yonder. We shall meet in that sweet happy land. -------- CARD OF THANKS We wish to express our thanks to the Methodist Aid society, Eastern Star, Rebekahs and the Royal Neighbor lodges, to the friends and American Legion for their act of kindness, for the music and to Rev. A. T. Cartland for his comforting words at the time of the death and burial of our mother and grandmother. Mr. and Mrs. Burt Fisher and family.
