She moved to Ohio with her parents in 1822. When she was 24 years of age she was married to Silas F. Dunham. Forty one years ago they moved from there with their four children—two sons and two daughters—to this state, on a farm in Berlin, about four miles from Ionia. After living here twenty five years, Mr. Dunham died. About twelve years before his death, the younger son, Edwin W., died in the Rebellion, at Elk River, Tennessee, with typhoid fever. The remaining son and younger daughter were finally married, leaving Mrs. Dunham and the one other daughter alone. They enjoyed each other’s society for sixteen happy years, when at last the dear mother was taken with pneumonia, and after an illness of only a week’s duration, she died on the 20th of April. Her children were with her and all that could be was done, but the Savior called and she could not stay. She was a devoted Christian, therefore ready. She died on Wednesday. The following Friday the funeral was attended from the house. Rev. L. E. Lennox preached a very impressive sermon. Mrs. Livermore and Miss Katie Spencer sang three beautiful selections. The casket was filled with lovely lilies and roses. A large bouquet of lilies lay at the head and a harp of white roses stood at the foot of the casket. They laid her to rest in the Balcom cemetery by the side of her loved ones who had gone before and whose going only served to make her own departure easier. Mrs. Dunham was eighty years old, but she looked much younger. Perhaps the atmosphere of love and tenderness that always surrounded her kept her young. She was cheerful and uncomplaining always. To know her was to love her. Only her memory is left to be cherished forever by many, many friends.
