Dunham Is Dead Last of Her Generation of Dexter Family Passes Away at Home of Daughter in Ann Arbor and Remains Taken to Detroit for Cremation – Ashes Will be Buried in Family Lot in Highland Park. Mrs. Harriet J. Dunham of Ionia, who since last April has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Ida M. York of Ann Arbor, died in that city of heart disease, Nov. 3, 1912. Had she lived until next Christmas she would have been 80 years of age. At her request the funeral services were held in a crematory in Detroit. Her ashes will be buried in the family lot at Highland Park cemetery, Ionia. Mrs. Dunham was born at Whitmore Lake, Washtenaw county, Michigan. In 1854 she was married to John S. Dunham of Ionia, where she lived about 50 years. Two daughters, Mrs. Ida M. York of Ann Arbor and Miss Olive Dunham of Ionia survive her. Her father was Stephen Dexter, a brother of Samuel Dexter, one of Ionia’s pioneers from Herkimer county, N.Y., and she was the last of her generation of the Dexter family. During a long, painful illness she received from her daughter untiring devotion and most loving care. Mrs. Dunham was a woman of a retiring, kindly, generous nature, a lover of home, a much-beloved neighbor and friend. Those who knew her best loved her most.
