Durkee, 48, died Friday morning in Pennock hospital following a long illness. He was born November 24, 1895, in Odessa township, the son of Lester and Mary Durkee. He moved to Sebewa with his parents when a small boy and grew to manhood there. August 24, 1915, he was married to Miss Blanche Tasker. Shortly after their marriage they went to housekeeping on their farm northwest of Lake Odessa where he lived until his death. During his later years, he specialized in the breeding of Guernsey cattle. Surviving are the widow, a daughter Mrs. June Roose in Odessa township, a sister Mrs. William J. Augst in Grand Rapids, and two brothers Veron in Grand Rapids and Gaylord at Springfield, Mo. Funeral services were held form the late home Monday afternoon with the Rev. Raymond E. Durkee officiating. Bearers were Donald Goodemoot, Roy Clark, Willard Carter, George Bever, Rex Karcher and John McDowell. Burial was in Lakeside cemetery.
