DURKEE DIED SATURDAY Ronald E. Durkee 46, farmer residing on Dudrkee Road, route 1 died Saturday from self inflected gunshot wounds from a .22 calibur rifle according Sheriff Peter Van Vleck and Coroner Wallace Jackson. His wife Helen found him when she returned home from town. Mr. Durkee had spent most of his life on the farm in Odessa Township where he was born His parents were Don and Alice Durkee an at one time resided on Jordan Lake Avenue. He attended the Lake Odessa School. Very active in civic affairs he was a member of the IOOF Lodge, Lakeside Grange and Farm Bureau. He also served as a member of the rural Limerick School Board for several years and later served eight years on the Lake Odessa Community School Board of Education and as president for two years. He did not seek relection last July. Surviving besides his wife are two daughters Mrs. Wayne (Lois) Jackson Grand Rapids and Carolyn and one son Robert at home; three brothers Harold of Hastings, Charles of Grand Rapids and Daniel of Lake Odessa and two grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday at 2 at the Pickens Funeral Chapel with burial in Lakeside Cemetery.
