M. Durkee, a pioneer resident of South Berlin, died at his ole home there this week Monday evening of old age mostly of acute attack of jaundice being the more immediate cause. He was 81 years old the fifth of this month. He came from Ohio in an early day and settled here, having lived there over fifty years. A widow and five sons survive him viz, Lafayette, Fremont, Lester, Don and Ellis, the latter being at home and running the farm. The funeral was held yesterday at the house. Rev. Luther preaching the funeral sermon. The singing was by a quartette from Lake Odessa composed of Mesdames A. J. Dann and Fanny Tucker and Messrs. A. T. Luther and E.C. Tew with Mrs. Percival as organist. Burial was in Lakeside cemetery.
