Dygert of this city, died at 1 o'clock Friday afternoon of consumption, at the home of Hon. Hampton Rich. She was 19 years of age, and was a very popular young lady, greatly beloved by a large circle of friends, who , although not unexpected, will be pained to hear of her death. Funeral Services of Marian E. Dygert held Sunday Afternoon. The funeral services of Miss Marian E. Dygert were held Sunday afternoon at the commodious residence of Hon. Hampton Rich, on East Main street. There was a large gathering to pay their farewell tribute to the memory of one who was so loved so well. The services were conducted by Rev. F.O. Dickey, assisted by Rev. D.F. Barnes. The Baptist choir rendered several choice selections. Rev. Barnes read the scripture lesson, and offered prayer, after which Rev. Dickey spoke in the highest terms of deceased and delivered a feeling address. The members of the choir were Miss Kate Benedict, Mrs. E.E. Wager, Earnest Butcher and M.E. Simpson, and the remains were borne to their last resting place by Messrs. Wm. Cochrane, Harry Butcher, K.R. Smith Jr., and Albert Bedford. The casket was white, embossed with lavender combination and was covered with flowers. The flowers were in profusion, several large pieces coming from friends, young ladies and gentlemen in this city, also a piece from the Sunday school in Grand Rapids, to which Miss Marion belonged while residing there. Flowers also came from Chicago and Detroit. The deceased would have been 19 years of age, had she lived until next December. She was a general favorite with the young people here and her death was a great blow to all who knew here, and filled every heart with extreme sadness. The relatives all have the heartfelt sympathy of the community. She was a lovable and happy disposition, bright and beautiful in her social lite, and both patient and affectionate during her last days, when friends from far and near did all in their power to make her last hours happy. She was laid to rest in Highland Park cemetery, and to that place, a long line of carriages, filled with hearts of sadness followed. Those who were here to attend the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Northrop of Lake View, Mrs. S.P. Hovey of Detroit, Fred M. Northrop of Lansing, Mr. and Mrs. Montgomery of Detroit and Will Dygert of Detroit.
