He was born in McBain, November 24, 1907, the son of Henry and Emma (Dodde) Dykhouse. Mr. Dykhouse retired in 1965 after many years with A. O. Smith Manufacturing in Ionia where he also worked for Standard Lumber Company. He then lived in Vicksburg at the Indian Lake Nazarene Camp until coming to Hillsdale County in 1989. He was a member of the Chapman Memorial Church of the Nazarene in Vicksburg since 1965. He was well known for his published and unpublished inspirational poetry. In 1934 he married Mable (White) and she preceded him in death in 1940. He married Ruth (Fellows) in 1946 and she preceded him in death in 1988. He is survived by sons, Raymond (Mary) Dykhouse of Lake Odessa, Robert (Cynthia) Dykhouse, Osseo, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers and five sisters. Visitation of family and friends will be Saturday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Kurtz Funeral Home, Hillsdale. A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Dykhouse will be Sunday at 3 p.m. with visitation from 1 p.m. until the time of services. Burial will be at Clear Lake Cemetery, Sheridan, at a later time. Memorial donations to the memory of Mr. Dykhouse are suggested to the Gideon’s International or the Hillsdale Medical Care Auxiliary.
