The Ionia Daily Standard, Monday, March 4, 1901

E. J. Eagle, president of the Ionia District Fair association, and one of the 
well-to-do farmers of Berlin township died this morning.  Though Mr. Eagle was 
never a robust man, yet he was a man of much nervous energy, and death came at 
this time quite unexpected.  He was aged 62 years.  Mr. Eagle was born in 
Oakland county, Michigan, and came to Ionia county in the early ‘70s.  He 
returned from Mexico only a few weeks ago, and thought he felt better and 
stronger for the trip. 

He is survived by the wife and two daughters: Mrs. Jay Harwood of Orange 
township, and Mrs. Charles Lane of South Bend, Ind.  Funeral on Wednesday 
morning at 11 o’clock.
