Ionia Daily Standard – Friday, 11 January 1907
Mrs. Lucretia Earl, who died at Muir Jan. 5, was born at Eaton Rapids, Sept., 
1839, and was reared in a circle of three brothers and one sister.  July 2, 
1861 she was united in marriage to John H. Halsey, who died Oct. 6, 1869.  To 
this union was born one daughter, July 18, 1867, and died Dec. 2, 1868.  Some 
time after Mr. Halsey’s death, she was married to Joseph Earl, who died in the 
spring of 1876.  Mrs. Earl soon after came to Muir, where she resided until 
her death, Jan. 5, 1907.  She leaves one sister, Mrs. Martha Shade, of 
Detroit, and one brother Edwin Knight, of Eaton Rapids also an adopted 
daughter, who resides in Virginia.  Mrs. Earl was well known in  Muir and a 
member of the Muir Church of Christ and leaves a large circle of friends, by 
whom she will be greatly missed.  The funeral was held from her late home Jan. 
7.  Rev. E. G. Campbell officiating.  The remains were taken to Eaton Rapids 
for interment, Tuesday, Jan.8.
