Smyrna – Miss Helen Earle, who had been in poor health for several years, and 
was taken seriously ill three weeks ago, passed from earth life Friday evening, 
Feb. 14, at the age of seventy years.  Helen Earle was born in Herkimer county, 
N.Y., September 3, 1842, and came with her parents to Smyrna in 1868, and with 
the exception of a few years in Lansing, has resided here the remainder of her 
life.  She leaves a sister, Miss Fannie Earle, of Smyrna, and two brothers, 
Backkus Earle, of Belding, and J. Milton Earle, of Detroit, also a half 
brother, J. Maurice Earle, of Florida.  Funeral services, conducted by Rev. W. 
A. Bliss, of Belding, were held at the church in Smyrna Sunday at two o’clock 
in the afternoon.  The remains were laid at rest by the side of her parents in 
Smyrna cemetery.
