At his home in Otisco Mr. Earle passed peacefully away at the ripe old age of nearly ninety-five years. He came here more than forty years ago and a number of years was a mail carrier on the Smyrna Belding route, until the Pere Marquette road was built. He was a pioneer citizen much respected by all who knew him. James Morris Earle was born in Truston, Courtland County, New York, March 23rd, 1817, died in Otisco, Ionia County, Michigan, December 8th, 1911. What wealth of experience these dates enclose, almost a century of life fulfilling the promise, “With length of days will I satisfy thee.” He was baptized at the age of twelve years, he was a Baptist during eighty-two years. For more than thirty-five years he was Senior Deacon of the Baptist church of Smyrna. The earlier years of his life were spent in his native state, where he married the wife of his youth, Miss Charlotte Hough. From this union there survive two daughters Helen M. and Fannie of Smyrna, and two sons A.B. Earle of Belding, and J. Milton Earle of Detroit. Three years after the death of his first wife which occurred in Smyrna, twelve years after the arrival of the family in Michigan he was married to Sarah Buttolph, who with their son John M. Earle of Arcadia, Florida, mourns a loving husband and father. He survived eighteen brothers and sisters what a joyful reunion on the other shore, and we two enriched and blessed by his example and prayers await the summons to join those gone before. Card of Thanks. We wish to express our sincere thanks to our friends and neighbors for their kind assistance during the sickness and death of our husband and father. Mrs. Sarah B. Earle, Miss Helen Earle, Miss Fannie Earle, Mr. and Mrs. A.B. Earle, Mr. and Mrs. J. Milton Earle, J. Maurice Earle.
