Hellen E. Earles, 79, of Belding passed away Wed., March 6, 2002 at St. Joseph 
Regional Medical Center in Plymouth, Ind.

She was born April 5, 1922 in Muskegon, the daughter of Ivan and Rachel 
(Waters) Root.  Hellen retired from the Chrysler Corp. in 1982.  She was a 
member of the UAW Local 212, the American Legion Post 203 Auxiliary and a life 
member of the Eastern Star Lodge 383 of Trufant. 

On Feb. 10, 1944 in Muskegon, Hellen married Peter Earles and he preceded her 
in death in 1961.  She was also preceded in death by two brothers, one sister, 
three sons and one granddaughter.

Hellen is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Louis and Nancy Earles of 
Bremen, Ind.; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one brother, 
Stanley Root of Florida; and many special friends.

Funeral and committal services for Hellen will be at 2 p.m., Saturday at 
Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding with Rev. Dr. Dick Woodward of First 
Congregational Church officiating.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the 
service.  Interment will be in Trufant Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be 
made to the Eastern Star or Alvah N. Belding Library.
