M. F. EARLY BURIED MONDAY ----- The Rev. Mervin F. Early, 68, retired Nazarene minister, died at his home in Woodbury, Thursday evening. He was born in Lima, O.. When four years old he came to Woodland township with his parents. On December 24, 1898, he was married to Miss Florence Kidder of Woodland, a school teacher for 20 years in that vicinity. He served his first pastorate at Sebewa Corners Baptist church. He then became dean of the Owosso Theological school and later went to Allenton, Pa., where he held the same position. He founded and preached at the South Lansing Nazarene church and after six years went to Charlotte as pastor of the Nazarene church there for three years. Because of poor health he retired to his home in Woodbury. Besides the widow, he is survived by a daughter Mrs. Charles Feucht in Lansing, and four grandchildren, three brothers, Ira in Florida, Charles at Nashville, and Demerest at Bellevue; five sisters Mrs. Grace Potter in California, Mrs. U. S. Grant at Beaverton, Miss Ica Early and Miss Emma Early at Peru, Ind., and Mrs. J.H. Werking at Miami, O. The body reposed at the Pickens funeral chapel here until Monday when it wa taken to the Grand Ledge Nazarene church to lie in state until the time of the service. The Rev. W. M. McQuire of Lansing officiated, assisted by the Rev. H. M. DeFoe of Grand Ledge. Burial was in Woodland Memorial cemetery.
