Mrs. Mary M. Echter, 66, 510 Front St., Belding, died Thursday at Butterworth
Hospital following an illness of several years.  Mrs. Echter was born Aug. 6,
1911, at Smyrna and had been a lifetime area resident.  She was a retired
seamstress.

Surviving are her husband, Franz, whom she married March 5, 1932 at Stanton; a
daughter, Mrs. George (Elma) Griffis, Chippewa Lake; a son, Robert, Florida; a
sister, Mrs. Melvina Mote, Greenville; and six grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Charles M. Courser Funeral Home,
Belding, the Rev. Wilford D. Wood officiating.  Interment will be in Smyrna
Cemetery.  Visitation at the funeral home will be tonight from 7 to 8:30 and
Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8:30.  Memorial contributions may be made to
American Cancer Society; cards are available at the funeral home.
