Born May 3, 1920 in Stanton, son of John and Barbara Frisch Echter. A U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. Retried from Gibsons in 1982 after 28 years of service. Married the former Velma Mote in Tuscaloosa, Ala., on nov. 28, 1945. Surviving are his wife, Velma, son & daughter-in-law, James & Karen Echter, Grand Haven; two grandchildren; six sisters, Barbara Moriarty, Mary Szymanski, Chicago, Betty Krzywda, Susan Silverthorn, Greenville, Christina Adams, Mecosta, Anne Lundy, Zeeland; two brothers, Frank, Belding, Matthew, Flint. Mr. Echter's body has been donated to the University of Michigan medical School. Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Johnson Funeral Home, Belding. Rev. Father Charlon Mason officiating. Visitation one hour prior to service. Memorial contributions may be made to Alvah N. Belding Library or a charity of the donors choice.
