Eckardt, 73, well known lifelong resident of Woodland township, died early Friday morning at his home east of Lake Odessa. He had been prominently identified with affairs of the community for many years until failing health dictated his retirement from activities a few years ago. Born January 8, 1868, on the farm where he died, he had lived his entire life there. On June 18, 1902, he was married to Miss Bertha Voelker of Reed City. Surviving are the widow, two sons, Victor in Woodland township and Glendon at Hastings, one daughter Mrs Richard Bloomer in Los Angeles, calif., two granddaughters, and two sisters Mrs.Mary Kunz in Grand Rapids and Mrs Lydia Schuler in Woodland township. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from Zion Evangelical church, of which he had been one of the substantial members for many years, the pastor, the Rev. J.S. Deabler, officiating, assisted by the Revs A.J. Hettler of Blissfield and E.N. Wheeler of Hasting. Music as furnished by Mr and Mrs Harold Smith and Mrs Arthur Statsick. Pall bearers were Forest DeCamp, Dan Smith, George Schneider and Benjamin Schneider. Interment was made in Lakeside Cemetery. Relatives and friends from out of town who were in attendance at the funeral were Mrs Mary Kunz, F.J. Eckardt, Mr and Mrs L.F. Eckardt, Mrs Ida Leader, Mr and Mrs Hubert Leader, Paul Leader, Mrs Grace Takens and son,Bruce, Mr and Mrs Lohrnian Schively, and Mr and Mrs Charles Rowlader, all of Grand Rapids. Dr, Leo Marsion of Lakeview, Henry Voelker, Mrs Laurence Connor, and John Schuler, of Ionia; Frank Voelker of Lima, Ohio; Mr and Mrs S.S.Voelker and daughter Helen of Reed City; Mrs Fred Pierson, Mrs. Jacob Rehor, Mrs Al Bessmer and the Rev.and Mrs Ernest Wheeler of Hastings. Mr and Mrs Andrew Finkbeiner of Middleville; Mr and Mrs Jesse Rowlader of Detroit; Mrs Lyle Robinson of Charlotte; Mrs. Robert Cardiff, Mr and Mrs Gus Heise, Mrs Jack Watkins, Mr and Mrs Gus Meiers of Lansing, Mr and Mrs. Daniel Garlinger, Mr and Mrs Sam Ostroth, Mrs Sarah Ostroth, Mr and Mrs Leslie Adams, Mr and Mrs. Austin Schantz, Mrs Orville Flocks, Mr and Mrs Clyde Walton of Nashville.
