Ionia Sentinel Standard, 8 Apr 1974

Mrs. Bertha M. Eckhardt, 93, of rural Lake Odessa died Monday morning at Barry
county medical facility in Hastings where she had been a patient the past two
years.  Born June 12, 1880, at Ionia she was the daughter of Christian and Julie
Lohrman Voelker.  When three she moved to Reed City.

June of 1902 she was married at Reed City to Fred Eckardt and they moved to Lake
Odessa where she lived the remainder of her life.  He died in October 1941.  She
was an active member of the Lakewood United Methodist church.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Cornelia Bloomer of Los Angeles, Calif; two sons,
Victor Eckardt of Lake Odessa and Fred of Hastings; three grandchildren; four
great grandchildren; brother, Stanley Voelker of Reed City.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Pickens-Koops funeral chapel
in Lake Odessa.  Rev. Charles Dunbar and Rev. Robert Betts will officiate and
interment will be at Lakeside cemetery.
