Ionia Sentinel, 10 May 1872

Died – In Smyrna, Ionia Co., at noon, Sabbath, April 21, 1872, after a brief 
illness, Bertie, son of Ambrose J. and Mrs. Rhoda Ecker, aged 13 months.

The bereaved parents have the tenderest sympathy of their neighbors and friends 
in their day of sorrow.  Their little one had won the interest and affection of 
many by his quick intelligence and amiable spirit.  The sadness of this 
afflicted household is alleviated by the thought that He who said, “Suffer 
little children to come unto me,” has taken this little one from a world of 
sin, sorrow and death, to a world of holiness, joy and everlasting life.
