Belding Banner News – 21 July 1926
Local friends of Hiram Eckert, who for some years past made his home at 
Greenville, were pained to learn that he had passed away on Thursday evening, 
July 15 at 6 o’clock following a long period of ill health.  Mr. Eckert was 73 
years of age at the time of his death and is survived by his widow and a 
daughter, Mrs. George Hopkins, of Greenville.  He was a pioneer resident of 
Orleans township having been born on a farm which adjoined the one on which he 
lived for so many years and which was still owned by him at the time of his 
death.  A few years ago when his health began to fail him Mr. and Mrs. Eckert 
moved to Greenville, where they made their home with their daughter.  Funeral 
services were held at the home on Saturday afternoon July 17 and the body was 
brought back here and buried in the Green’s Cemetery.
