Ionia Sentinel-Standard
Sarah A. Eckley, 80, died late Saturday at her home on Olmstead road after a 
long illness.  She was born November 4, 1890 in Ionia township, the daughter of 
John and Coralee Fortune Eckley and was a teacher in rural schools.  She was a 
life member of North Plains Community church and also its ladies society.  She 
was married to Louis H. Eckley, June of 1909 and he died March of 1963.

She is survived by four sons, Howard and Donald of Ionia, John of Lakeview and 
Thomas of Lyons; one foster son, Edward Small of Ionia; 13 grandchildren and 25 
great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 pm Tuesday at North Plains Community church with 
Rev Nelson Swinehart of Carleton Community church officiating.  Burial will be 
in North Plains cemetery.  The body will be at the home of her son Howard on 
Olmstead road until noon Tuesday with Shaw-Rivett-Hull funeral home in charge of 
services.  A memorial fund has been established for North Plains Community 
Church.
