Child Burned To Death.

Blanche Lavina, the little two and one-half year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
George Eckman, of Ionia, met a frightful death on Thanksgiving morning at about
9 o’clock.  Mrs. Eckman left the little one in the house alone while she went
across the road after a pail of water.  She heard the infant scream and hastened
back, only to find it standing terrified in front of the heating stove wrapped
in flames.  She had evidently stood in front of the stove, and the front damper
being open the dress was drawn into the opening, a piece of it being found
there.  The flames were extinguished as soon as possible and a physician called
but the child died two hours after.  The body was in a frightful condition.
