Edlin, 85, of south Ionia, loving mother and grandmother passed away on Sunday, Jan. 19, 2003. She was born on March 20, 1917, in Alma, the daughter of Howard and Owie (Sage) Potter. Mrs. Edlin was a lifelong resident of Easton Township. She married Charles Edlin on Nov. 1, 1941 and together they ran the family farm in Easton Township. She was also deeply involved in the Grange and the Extension Group. Recently she served as a volunteer at Ionia County Memorial Hospital Cart Group. Ruth enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, including the Birthday Card Group. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles, two brothers and two sisters. Surviving are her children Gary (Sue) Edlin, of Lansing, and Charlene (Mark) Shaltz of East Jordan; two grandchildren Jeff (Karen) Edlin and Chris Edlin; and two great-grandchildren, Cameron and Lauren. Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Joe Everett of the Calvary Bible Church of Marshfield, Wisc. Services will take place at 11 a.m. Friday at the Cook Funeral Home, 220 Rich Street, Ionia. Interment will take place in the spring at Easton Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Cook Funeral Home Thursday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Ionia County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary in memory of Ruth M.
