He was found in bed with a bullet hole in his forehead by his wife when she returned from the dairy with milk for breakfast. The gun, a 32 revolver, was found lying in the crook of his arm. Members of the family told officers that Edlin had been despondent over failing health and had complained recently of illness, following his return from Florida four weeks ago, after spending the winter months there. He had spent several winters in Florida. Edlin was a well-to-do Easton township farmer and had lived in the vicinity of the Welch school for many years. He came to Ionia county from the vicinity of Carson City and was a prominent figure in farm circles in Easton township for many years. Coroner Orin Stone said there would be no inquest. Mr. Edlin was born in Bloomer township, Montcalm county, in 1864. He is survived by his wife, Cynthia; two daughters, Mrs. Dewey Hammond, of Charlotte and Mrs. Roy Terry, of Ionia; also one son, Roy Edlin, of Easton township.
