Jim was born on February 15, 1942 in Belding, the son of Dale and Anne(Chickering) Edlin. Jim graduated from Belding High School with the Class of 1960, that same year he married Jacquelyne Brodene. He loved anything to do with NASCAR, NHRA and IHRA Drag Racing. Jim was and always will be a Mopar Man! Jim was a drag racer himself starting in 1962; in 1974 he went undefeated at Broman, was the track champion at Martin and Mid Michigan Motorplex and competed at the world championship in Ontario, California. In 2005 he was the runner up in the sportsman’s bracket at Indianapolis. He raced competitively for years with his home track being the Mid Michigan Motorplex. Jim was a dairy farmer in the early Seventies, and then went on to being a truck driver for Mizkan Americas until his retirement in 2013. Jim will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Jim is loved and survived by his wife Tami, his children; Carrie (Jim) Stout, Melinda (Kevin) Orling, James (Bobbie) Edlin II, his stepson; Mark (Laurie) Petersen, his grandchildren; Jeni (Erik) Bailey, Erika Edlin, Megan Edlin, Kelsey (Lance) Shinaver, Christopher (Jessica) Witter, Richard Orling, Ben Orling, Jacob Orling, his step grandchildren; Julienna, Brighton, and Owen Petersen, Tyler Osborne, his great grandchildren; Evan, Jacquelynn, Elle, Bailey, Tatum, Andrew, Aiden, his sister; Diane (Jim) Chickering, several nephews and nieces, along with several brother and sister in laws and many cousins and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife; Jacquelyne Edlin, his son; John Edlin and his grandson; Kevin Stout. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday at Shiloh Community Church, ( East Wing) with a memorial service on Friday at 11 a.m. at the church with Pastor Ken Harger officiating. A private Burial will be in Easton Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given in Jim’s name to the Mid Michigan Motorplex and American Cancer Society, envelopes will be available at church.
