Earl L. Edmonds, 81, of Rantoul, Ill., formerly of Gibson City, Ill., died 
July 14, 2003 at Provena Covenant Hospital, Urbana, Ill. 

Mr. Edmonds was born at Harpster June 22, 1922 son of Franklin and Effie 
Canoy Edmonds. He married Mary Jean Busing Aug. 31, 1942, at Blair, Neb. He 
had resided in Rantoul for the last five years. He worked at Central Soya in 
Portland from 19678 to 1969, and in Gibson City for 35 years retiring in 
1982. He was a Navy veteran of World War II serving in the South Pacific 
from 1942-1945. He was a 58 year member of the Lee Lowery American Legion 
Post #568 in Gibson City, a member of the United Methodist Church in Gibson 
City and the Gibson City Moose Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, one of which was his 
twin; five sisters, and one great-grandson. 

Surviving are his wife, Mary Jean; son, Dave (Sandy) Edmonds of Gibson City; 
daughters, Susie (Pat) Pline of Johnsonville, N.Y., Cheri (Chuck) Spurgeon 
of Danville, Ill. and Carol Edmonds of Rantoul; six grandchildren; three 
step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Margie Scholl of 
Phoenix, Ariz.

Services were held at Lamb Funeral Home, Gibson City, the Rev. Scott Henley 
officiating. Burial followed at Drummer Township Cemetery, with military 
rites accorded by the Lee Lowery American Legion Post #568.

Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society of ASTA Care Center 
of Paxton.
