Ionia Sentinel Standard, 2002

Stanley L. Edwards, 76, of Ionia passed away on Sun., Feb. 10, 2002 at Ionia 
County Memorial Hospital.

He was born Dec. 10, 1925, in Ionia, the son of Leo A. and Charabell J. 
(Brockway) Edwards.  He graduated from Ionia High School in 1944 and served 
with the Army Air Force during World War II.. He married Lorraine Greenhoe on 
June 21, 1944, in Denver, Colo.  He retired in 1983 after 27 years at the 
Michigan Reformatory.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Lorraine; and four daughters and three 
grandchildren, Judith Edwards and Nancy Edwards of Grand Rapids; Lori (Sam) 
Ferlito of Douglas and their son Jonathan (Colleen) Reynolds of Dublin, Ohio; 
Susan (Barry) Zeeuw and their daughters, Katherine and Ellen of Grand Rapids; 
two brothers, Kenneth of California and  Gerald (Jeanette) of Lyons; one 
sister, Marjorie (John) Beckett of Portland.  He was preceded in death by two 
brothers, Stuart in 1940 and Claude in 1999.

A memorial mass will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic 
Church with the Rev. Melvin Fox officiating.  The family will receive family 
and friends one hour prior to the services.  Interment of ashes will be held in 
the spring at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Ionia.  Arrangements made by Lake Funeral 
Home in Ionia.  Anyone wishing may make a memorial contribution to SS. Peter & 
Paul Church.
