The Hasting Banner, Thursday, December 17, 1936
Hattie Viola Edwards was born in Ovid township, Branch county, September 14, 
1917 and died at Nicholas hospital, Battle Creek, on December 9 at the age of 
19 years, two months and 25 days.  She spent most of her life with her parents 
in Hastings attending school here and also attending the Methodist Episcopal 
Sunday school.  She had a pleasant disposition and was a kind and loving 
daughter.  

She leaves to mourn her loss her mother, Mrs. Anna Edwards, two sisters, Mrs. 
Ellen Bennett and Elise of Hastings, one brother, Marvin of Hastings and other 
relatives and friends.  Her father Melvin Edwards, preceded her in death July 
24, 1929.

Funeral services were held on Friday afternoon at two o’clock at the Walldorn 
funeral home, the Rev. W. Maylan Jones officiating.  Burial was made in the 
Lake Odessa cemetery.  Her death was the result of an accident last May.  She 
had been a hospital patient since that time.
