A large number of friends and neighbors mourned the untimely death of their friend and neighbor, whose kindness and loyalty had endeared her to them through the years. Obituary Florence Etta Smith, the daughter of John and Alice Smith was born in Berlin township, May 21, 1872. On July 26, 1888, she was united in marriage to Ransom Eggerman. This union was blessed with four daughters, Bertha of Battle Creek, Velma of Clarksville, Gaila of Grand Rapids, and Goldia, at home. For the past twenty years she lived in this neighborhood where her usefulness and willing ways endeared her to all who knew her. On March 31, she passed on to her reward at the age of 59 years, ten months and ten days. The husband, four daughters, a sister Mary Reed of Grand Rapids, two brothers Arthur and George Smith of Stanton, six grandchildren, one great- grandchild, and a host of friends are left to mourn the loss of a kind and loving wife and mother, a devoted sister, and a true unselfish friend whose only thought was of others.
