Ionia Shoppers Guide - Dec. 2011

Harvey J. Eggleston, 87, of Ionia passed away Sunday, December 18, 2011 in 
Carson City. He was born May 4, 1924 in Grand Rapids, the son of Merl and Irus 
(Snyder) Eggleston of the McBride and Edmore area. He graduated from Edmore 
High School in 1942. He farmed with his father during and after graduation from 
high school until 1944. Harvey married Ella Louise Deyarmond in 1945. She 
preceded him in death in 1976. He married Phyllis Hankis October 16, 1976. 
Harvey entered the U.S. Navy in 1944 until 1946 serving in the Asian Theater in 
the Philippines. 

Harvey is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Phyllis of Ionia; children, 
Marlene (Jim) Short of Stanton, Karen (Roger) Stevens of Carson City, and 
Darrell (Peggy) Eggleston of Stanton; step children, LuAnn (Colon) Battle of 
Ionia, and Ronald (Tammy) Hankis of Saranac; ten grandchildren; and 15 great 
grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and step son Jim Hankis.

Graveside and military services will be held Friday, December 30 at 1;00 p.m. 
at McBride Cemetery. Arrangements by Lake Funeral Home in Ionia. Memorial
