He was born December 3, 1936 in Prestonsburg, Kentucky the son of Darwin and Emma (Stephens) Gibson. Jack married Sally Loucks December 7, 1956. She preceded him in death in 2012. Jack was generous to a fault. His nickname was “Union Jack”. He was an active Champion of workers’ safety, testifying before the U.S. House of Representatives on behalf of workers everywhere. He was active in the Civil Rights movement of the 1960’s, marching with the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Jack is survived by his children, Mark (Jan) Dudas Eilar of Eaton Rapids, Connie (John) Renn of Ionia and Lisa Eilar of Ionia; grandchildren, Kathy Eilar of Hastings, Laura (Matt) Wierenga of Hudsonville, John Eilar of Plymouth, Megan Eilar of Belding and Mac Lane Renn of Ionia and great grandchildren, Landon Eilar, Noland Eilar and Elyse Wierenga. He was preceded in death by two sons, Stephen Eilar and Brian Eilar. Cremation has taken place and there will be no services at his request. Arrangements by Lake Funeral Home of Ionia.
