Elder, 83, died at a nursing home on East Main Tuesday morning after a lengthy illness. He was born in Sarcoxie, Mo., March 22, 1884 the son of James F. Elder and Christina Freeland Elder. He moved to Louisiana while a small child. After finishing school he moved to California in the spring of 1902 and spent the greater part of his life as an owner and manger of a citrus fruit ranch in California. He was a veteran of WWI and member of Presbyterian church in Pamona, Calif., also a member of Southern California Commandery 37 Knights Templar and Al Malaikan temple—Shrine and member of American Legion. Surviving are his wife Reva Callow Elder; one son, Carnes of Clairmont, Calif.; two daughters Mrs. Wayne Corey of Grand Rapids, Mrs. Earl Graham of Ionia; one brother, Harold of Crowley, La.; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Prayer services will be at the Boynton funeral home Thursday at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Robert McComb officiating. Funeral services will be at Todd Memorial chapel in Pamona, Calif., Friday at 3 p.m. Full Masonic services will be at Pamona cemetery.
