Mrs. R. D. Eldred, 30, Mother of Five Children, Stricken Tuesday Night; Died Very Quickly. Mrs. Raymond D. Eldred, 30, living on a farm east of the city, was suddenly stricken while attending the Ionia free fair Tuesday night, and though rushed at once to a doctor’s office, died before aid could be given. The Eldred family, with five small children, came to Ionia county about a year ago from near Millbrook. Mrs. Eldred was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Chapan, of near Mecosta. The body was shipped to the home of her parents Wednesday noon. The funeral services will be held there Thursday. Burial will be at Millbrook. At the time she was stricken Mrs. Eldred was standing near the grandstand, not more than 20 feet from the spot where the Boynton ambulance was parked. She was put in the ambulance at once, but she had expired before the ambulance reached the doctor’s office. A bursting blood vessel was said to have caused her death. So far as is known this was the only casualty at the fairgrounds Tuesday in spite of the large crowd at the fair.
