She came from Germany with her parents when about two months old and had spent most of her life in the local area with exception of about 15 years spent in the Mulliken area on a farm. She lived for a number of years in the Carr district and attended the East Odessa Wesleyan Methodist church. She and her husband, Jay, moved from a farm west of town on M-50 when he retired from farming in 1952. He died April 2, 1955. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ray (Hattie) Farrell of Lake Odessa and Mrs. Robert (Hazel) Borden, Lansing; three sons, Eddie and Lewis of Lake Odessa, and James of Ionia; 19 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Monday at 1:30 at the Pickens funeral chapel with burial in Lakeside cemetery.
