Elens, 69, of Oscoda, died suddenly of a heart attack Wednesday evening at Tawas City hospital. He had resided at Oscoda since 1940 and was employed for many years at the Fort Motor company at Detroit. He was an active member of the American Legion, having served in France during World War I. Funeral services was held at the Jacques funeral home in Tawas City, Sunday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. C.H. Symons officiating. Military honors were performed by the American Legion Post of Oscoda. Graveside service and burial was in Tuttle cemetery at 4 p.m. The Rev. Floyd Emshwiller, pastor of the First Christian church of Ionia, conducted the service with military honors by the Belding American Legion Post. Mr. Elens is survived by two brothers, William Elens of Portland and Peter Elens of Joliet, Ill.; two sisters, Mrs. Julia McPherson of Belding and Mrs. Margaret Rockey of Ionia.
